The Situation

Every few weeks, Google revisits most websites. It checks for updates, reviews content, and decides whether a site is worth keeping in search results.

If a website appears inactive or unreliable, it can quietly drop out.

That’s what happened here.

Recently, we worked with Wheelies Van Rentals after their website stopped appearing in Google search results. As part of the recovery, CleverOnline also designed and built a new website for the business.

The project wasn’t a one-off. Wheelies Van Rentals is the sister company of Kite Mobility Vehicles, and this was the second website CleverOnline has delivered for the Kite Mobility Vehicles business group. Kite Mobility Vehicles is widely regarded as the most experienced producer of mobility vehicles in Australasia.

Why Websites Stop Showing in Google Search Results

There’s usually no single cause. It’s a combination of signals.

In this case, two stood out.

The website was not secure. It didn’t have HTTPS, which is now a basic requirement. Google treats unsecured websites as lower trust.

There was also very little change happening on the site. No new content, no updates. From Google’s perspective, it looked inactive.

Over time, Google stopped properly checking the site. The sitemap was ignored, and the website dropped out of search results.

This isn’t a penalty. It’s neglect.

How We Fixed a Website Not Showing on Google

The first step in any SEO recovery is getting Google to pay attention again.

We verified ownership of the domain and re-established trust signals. A request was then made for Google to revisit the site, along with the submission of key pages to speed things up.

This process was completed within a couple of days. The website began showing in Google search results again shortly after.

At the same time, a new website was built. This removed the underlying issues and provided a clean, secure structure.

How Long SEO Recovery Takes After Losing Rankings

SEO recovery doesn’t happen instantly.

Even after a website starts showing in Google again, there’s a period where rankings fluctuate. Google needs time to reassess the content, structure and relevance of the site.

In this case, the reappearance in search results happened quickly. Stabilisation and improvement are expected over the following weeks.

This is normal.

What To Do If Your Website Isn’t Showing on Google

If your website has disappeared from Google or dropped out of search results, start with the basics:

• Make sure your website is secure (HTTPS)

• Check that your pages can be found and accessed

• Add new, relevant content

• Fix broken links and redirects

• Review any recent changes that may have affected visibility

If the issue isn’t obvious, a proper SEO review will usually identify the cause.

A Practical Lesson for Business Owners

Websites don’t maintain themselves.

Without updates, security, and ongoing attention, it’s not unusual for a site to lose visibility over time. The drop is often gradual, which makes it easy to miss.

The decision to rebuild the Wheelies Van Rentals website was a sensible one. It addressed both the immediate issue and the underlying risk.

Alongside the technical work, there was also a recommendation to strengthen engagement with the disabled community through Facebook. Search visibility matters, but so does direct connection.

Final Word

If your website is not showing in Google, there is always a reason.

In most cases, it can be fixed.

The key is to understand what’s changed, act early, and put the right structure in place so it doesn’t happen again.
